Created by the faculty, staff and students of color whose needs were ignored by the early white planners of the college. It grew from the Non-White Coalition Office into its current form as the First People's Multicultural, Trans and Queer Support Services which provides important services to the first peoples and LGBTQ+ members of the Evergreen community.

Created as part of an independent learning contract by student Andrew Weymouth on Mary Hillaire, who founded Native American Studies at Evergreen and created the original vision for the House of Welcome.

Created by dean of library and media services Greg Mullins to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of the development of interdisciplinary coordinated studies central to the Evergreen curriculum.
